Headquarters of ACC Cement is a heritage building located near Church Gate station has been revived by NPAPL has been bestowed with GOLD certification for "green building" by LEED. The brief specified renovation of existing office spaces whilst retaining the grandeur and charm of the heritage structure complying with the green building norms.
The central enclosed shaft which ran the existing services was converted into an open atrium with glass railing and skylight on top. The office spaces were planned around the atrium along with break out spaces. Rerouting the services in view of green building parameters and energy modeling was a major challenge.
Maximum use of recycled materials, low VOC content finishes, VRV system for air-conditioning, STP provision and conversion of terraces into lush green lawns have been infused into the building design without losing its original grandeur and stature.
